Letter from Ruth Laufer to Flossie in July 21, 1984 refers to Loretta Beth Philipp as his niece. Her mother was a Riedesel.

At the time of his death, George lived at 1324 N Washington Avenue in Batavia, IL. He worked for Burgess-Norton Manufacturing for 38 years and was a member of the Old Timers Club. A Baptist minister officiated at his funeral. In 1936 they were living in Aurora, IL.

Born in Beckers Haus, Wunderthausen. She came with several others from Wunderthausen on the ship "Johannes Schmidt" out of Bremen, landing in New Orleans on June 1, 1857. The rest of them went to Iowa. Her first cousins once removed, the Homrighausen brothers from Linde Haus in Wunderthausen, had gone to the area in 1839. Caroline had a daughter, Katherine, in Wunderthausen in 1854. The daughter stayed there and died at 22.

Caroline and her first husband, William Henze, lived at Lords Corner near Hecker, Illinois.

She and Johannes Riedesel lived in both Monroe County (Hecker) and St. Clair County (Smithton), but are buried near Hecker.

Penningroth Karl Friedrich Christian [Male] b. 3 JAN 1817 Lahde, Minden, Germany - d. 11 SEP 1889 Cedar County, Iowa

Came to the U.S. in about 1845. Lived first at Red Bud, Illinois, but moved to Cedar County, Iowa, in 1856. He was one of the founders of the first German church in Wheatland in 1857, and then in 1863 he helped found the German Evangelical Zion Church near Lowden.
