Born in the house 'Auf der Leye' in Wunderthausen. His twin sister, Luise, died at the age of one. He cam to America on the ship Johann Lange out of Bremen that landed in New York on September 23, 1857. Buried in Belton cemetery

"Henry KNOCHE, farmer and stock raiser, section 29, post-office New Santa Fe, was born in Prussia, February 24, 1839, and was there reared and attended school, after which, in the fall of 1857, he came to America, landing in New York. He immediately came to this county and engaged in his present business, and now owns 385 acres of improved land, being an excellent stock farm. He was married in this county August 20, 1872, to Miss Amelia KUNZ. They have three children: Elizabeth, William H., and John C."

Born in Altehäusers Haus in Wunderthausen. The family arrived in New York on the ship Amazone out of Bremen on May 31, 1848. Known as Florentine.

April 15, 1920 - Obituary of Grandma Riedesel - Mrs. Flora Riedesel passed away at her home in Lanesboro April 9th, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 19 days, after a long illness. Although she was only confined to her bed a few hours. When she attempted to arise on the morning of her death she in some way fell and broke her hip. She suffered severely all day and passed away about 7 p.m.

Mrs. Riedesel was born in Germany and came to this county when 6 years of age and was married to Henry Riedesel in 1859. Mr. Riedesel preceded her twenty years ago. Twelve children were born to this union, ten of whom survive. They are: John and Hubert Riedesel, Mrs. Lizzie Miller, Mrs. Minnie Miller and Mrs. Clara Beckman, of Lanesboro; Peter of Wheatland; Paul, of Sioux City; Mrs. Hannah Cassum, of Sioux City; Philip, of Oklahoma; Mrs. Emma Vader, of Weiser, Idaho. All but the last two attended the funeral. There were twenty-seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Riedesel came to Carroll county when the country was new and endured many hardships. Funeral services were held at the church Monday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Whear. A large crowd was present to pay their last respects to their old friend and neighbor. Interment at the East Liberty cemetery by the side of her husband. The floral offerings were beautiful. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their mother.

Though the family was living Brule, Nebraska, his mother returned for his birth to Carroll County, Iowa, where she had relatives. Eugene, as he was known, died of diphtheria complications. The rest of the family was quarantined so could not even attend the funeral officiated by his uncle Rev. Fred Tresidder.

"Louis KNOCHE, farmer, section 29, post-office Belton, is a native of Prussia, and was born December 9, 1834, and was there reared and educated. In the spring of 1854 he came to America, landing in New Orleans, and from there came to Jackson County, where he now owns ninety acres, with a good residence. He was married in this county, March 27, 1863, to Katie KNOCHE. They have six children: Katie, Henry, Louis, George, James and Omolaci."

Source: "The History of Jackson County, Missouri" published in 1881. There was a Ludwig Knoche of about the right age who landed in New Orlean on the ship Carl in 1859 but I doubt this was the same man.

Born in the house Auf der Laye in Wunderthausen. Naturalized in 1858.

Born in the house "Kirchstumpfs/Am Kloster", Wunderthausen. I believe he was the Hein(rich) Riedesel aboard the Prince Frederick Wilhelm out of Bremen that docked in New York on April 30, 1882. He was naturalized in 1888.

Family records say that he came to Kansas City, Missouri, under the sponsorship of Louis Knoche (of which there were many). Known as Henry Herman in this country. Two children of Bertha's first marriage were raised with the family. Buried at Belton, Missouri.

Born in Brückeschneiders Haus in Wunderthausen. She came to America on the "Argonaut" out of Bremen with other people from Wunderthausen. The ship docked in New York on November 11, 1867. She first lived near Tingley, Iowa, where she married Ludwig Homrighausen a few years later. What brought either of them to this area is not certain. She and her husband were second cousins, and both were third cousins to John Albert Riedesel (born the same year as both of them were) who was also living at Tingley at the time. All wound up near Idalia, Colorado.

I believe he came to America on the Atlantic out of Bremen to New York, landing on May 28, 1866. He was only 14.

In 1910 he was living with the Louis Tippe household in Jackson County, Missouri. Mrs. Tipton was born a Knoche and had married another Knoche. Two of her children were also in the house.

He was born in Weymers Haus in Wunderthausen but married into Haase Haus. This was one of the smaller houses in the village. It was unusual for a man his age to emigrate, but the greater opportunities for his four sons (and already married daughter) may have been compelling. The house and property (meagre, I think) were sold to J. Daniel Müsse from Jochums Haus. Most of the family traveled to New York, landing on June 7, 1845. The name of their ship is not recorded. Son J. Ludwig had gone the year before, and they brought with them his fiance, Catherine Schneider. All settled in Crawford County, Ohio.

Ludwig and Florentine died around 1847-1848, reportedly in an epidemic of some kind (cholera?) along with their daughter-in-law and at least one grandchild. They were interred in a private cemetery probably belonging to the Gerhardts. Its identity is long lost but we are reasonably certain where it is.
