After the sudden and early death of his wife, he became a soldier in the service of the Landgrave of Hesse, Wilhelm. The death register states that he was home on leave ("Urlaub") when he died in 1786. He is said to have left an illegitimate son of the same name (Johannes, *1783). The mother was a sister of his brother-in-law.
First tenant am Gefälle.

Coachmen or soldier in the service of a Hussar officer.
Living in Chicago in 1880 with the three children and no wife listed. The Census had his name as "Riedseal" but the names of two children correspond to Riedesels whose marriages are recorded with the Riedesel spelling and consistent ages. The 1920 Census records appears to show 1873 as the year of emigration for the son Theodore. The fact that one daughter is named Friedrika suggests that they may be kin to the Friedrich Riedesels who lived to the west in Kane County.
It is purely a guess on my part that John was a son of this marriage, rather than of Friedrich in Kane County.
A church record from Birkelbach mentions that a natural son of Georg Henrich Riedesel of Wingeshausen and Maria Margretha Frebbin named Johann Henrich died on June 4, 1745.

Bore two children to the soldier Peter Dörrenbecher. Two of her brothers continued to live in Gersweiler so it possible that she lived with one those families.
She born at the Wunderthausen mill.
Born in and tenant in Schreiners Haus, Diedenshausen. According to local tradition, he personally carried a complaint from the peasants of Diedenshausen to the German Emperor in Vienna about the heavy burden of taxation and other duties imposed by the Count. Nothing was ever done about it.
There is documentation that a Henrich (or Heyrich) preceded the Hederich as the tenant in Herjes house at the Melbach, and the probability is that he was a Riedesel.
