Emigrated to Baltimore in 1796 but returned in 1800. In 1803 he left again for the US and stayed. That is where he married and had a family.

Alspaugh Hanna [Female]

Two more children are recorded in a German reference work with birth dates after the death of Johannes Wilhelm in 1824. Either that date is incorrect or perhaps Hanna remarried. The two other children were Daniel (b. 12/14/1826) and Joseph (b. 4/10/1829).

Born in Bergmanns/Gabels Haus in Wunderthausen. Exactly when he came to the U.S. is unclear as he gave widely disparate dates in the Census records I can find. His first marriage date of 1876 in Rochester is firm.

Lived in Rochester, New York, where he owned a restaurant in the German community. Known as John. His obituary in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle is uninformative. He was a member of several lodges and the Salem Church. No mention was made of his German origins or even his age.
