He used the name George H. Homrighausen in this country. Born in Schmeds house in Wunderthausen and apparently came to Baltimore in July 1852 with several other Wittgensteiners.

Lived first in the Baltimore area where he was recorded in the 1860 Census and reportedly operated the "Homrighausen & Vey Distillery." By 1870 they had moved to Wheatland where their last known child, Louis, was born. Here he bought farmland from L. Henry Riedesel in 1872 adjacent to the (once-important) Wheatland train depot in Section 10 of the Spring Rock Township. They returned to Baltimore at some point.

The identity of his wife is unclear. I have had a record of an Anna West but sources closer to the family say she was Narcissa Ann Spry.The dates I have for the two names are very similar. I have seen claims that he died in Wheatland but his grave is in Maryland.

Mathilda married Jens only a few days before he died. His will described her as his housekeeper; it was presumably written earlier. The will leaves money to several other relatives but use of his house and household goods are designated to Matilda. The estate papers with the county make no mention of her as a wife.
