Born in Lene Haus (Untere Schneidemühle) in Wunderthausen. She came to America on the ship Rhein, landing in New York on March 25, 1872. Bore five children but none were alive in 1900 and I have no names. They lived variously in Cedar County and around Wheatland.

William's birth certificate gives her maiden name. By 1920 she was widowed and living with the family of her son Walter.

She had married again to a Kretzler (Fritzler?) and was listed as a widow in the 1940 Census. Single daughter Bertha lived with her as did Edith Creasey (also widowed).

Rietesel Johannes [Male] b. ABT 1849 Germany

Arrived with his wife and three children on the ship Köln out of Bremerhaven, landing in Baltimore on July 2, 1881. The spelling is 'Rietesel', the family members are not in the Wittgenstein records, nor were they traveling with other recognizable Wittgenstein names. The highest probability is that they came from Pomerania, the only other known source of Rietesel emigrants. He may have been the Johann Rietesel who was naturalized on May 13, 1892. At one time I had a date of May 04, 1922 for his death, but I cannot document it now. They were Missouri Synod Lutherans in this country.
