Known as Katherine. Other sources give her year of birth as 1838, but that is in error. She was born in Wagners Haus, Diedenshausen. Apparently, she and her husband lived in Diedenshausen before going to America. Came on the ship Humbold with her family, which traveled from Bremen to New York and landed on May 27, 1867. Her obituary says she bore 14 children, three of whom preceded her in death. The 14th was probably an infant whose name has not come down to us.

References to his actual place of birth are inconsistent, but it is likely that it was Ösdorf, now part of the town of Bad Pyrmont in the area of Hanover. Beckmann is a fairly common name, and there are many in Pyrmont today.

DIETRICK BECKMANN, farmer, Sec. 7; P. 0. Wheatland; son of Dietrick and Sophia Beckmann; born July 24, 1853, in Hanover. Germany; his mother died in Germany in 1861, and in 1866; he came with his father to the United States, locating on the farm upon which he now lives, which contains 240 acres, valued at $40 per acre. His father married a Mrs. Christine Acker, whose maiden name was Sittler. in March, 1867; father died Aug. 1,1876. Mr. D. Beckmann, Jr., married Miss Flora Riedesel. daughter of Ludwig and Catharine Riedesel, March 13, 1877; she was born in this county Feb. 27, 1858; have one daughter, Ernestine. Members German Reformed Church; Independent.

Known as George, Jr. Born in Altehäusers Haus in Wunderthausen. The family arrived in New York on the ship Amazone out of Bremen on May 31, 1848. Came to Crawford County Ohio with his parents and siblings in 1848 and settled in what became Wheatland in 1851. Before the founding of St. Paul's in 1861, he is recorded as a founding member of a German Reformed congregation or community (Gemeinde) in 1857. His large farm was in Section 22 of the Spring Rock Township of Clinton County.

Known as Caroline. Born in Altehäusers Haus in Wunderthausen. The Schneider family arrived in New York on the ship Amazone out of Bremen on May 31, 1848. Some records (including her obituary in the local paper!) report that the wife of Ludwig Dürr was "Catherine Schneider", but this is totally incorrect. She was Caroline in her day; her sister, Catherine, married J. Ludwig Riedesel in 1845. Four of her twelve children died in childhood. She is buried with Ludwig Dürr in St. Paul's Cemetery though there is no grave marker.
