Came to the US on the ship "Johann Schmidt" out of Bremen, landing in New Orleans on June 1, 1857. I believe they had a small farm on the eastern edge of Cedar County/Springfield Township/Section 13, and that he was called George D. None of the older three children who emigrated with them is listed in the 1860 Census.

Earned M.D. in 1921 from the University of Iowa and practiced medicine in Wheatland for almost 50 years. However, he was on military duty in the Philippines in 1941, was captured there by the Japanese, and survived the infamous Bataan Death March.

Known as Franz. Born in the Wunderthausen house called Hanphilippses. Came to New York on the ship "Rio Packet" out of Bremen and arrived on July 19, 1854. The passenger list gives Anna's name as Schneider and lists baby Anna. Perhaps they married in Germany and had another ceremony in the U.S. Perhaps not. He was a deacon in the first Kirchenrat (Board) of St. Paul's church in 1861 as was one of his brothers (uncertain which). As late as July of 1860 (Census), he was living in Warren County, NJ, next to the Pott brothers. He owned farmland in Sections 15, 22 and 23 of the Spring Rock Township.

Came to America in 1865 from Schmeds/Franzose in Wunderthausen on the ship Hansa out of Bremen. The ship arrived on October 27, 1865 in New York. She had six children by 1900 but only three were alive in 1900. The names of the other three are not known to me.

Born in Mannes Haus in Wunderthausen. Arrived in New York on the ship "Rio Packet" out of Bremen on July 19, 1854. Though they were not married until a month after landing, the passenger list (but not the German permission files) gives her last name as Schenider. Her name was on the family farm as of 1894; another large tract in Section 20 is also listed as belonging to "Mrs. F. Schneider." That may have been her but maybe not.
